Nash Healthcare Systems selected Wilkerson Associates and Rodgers for the design and construction of a new Heart Center and an Emergency Care Center for the Rocky Mount community. The Heart Center will be constructed directly above the Emergency Care Center. With an aggressive 22 month schedule, the project is expected to be completed in December of 2013. Seamless collaboration has been imperative in order to keep things moving along which is why the project team utilized the entire suite of services from NextPlans.
Rodgers has utilized NextPlans for bid-document
distribution and contract document management for
many years, so adding collaboration and exchange within
the same platform was an easy transition.
NextPlans opened up the collaboration platform within the Nash ECC & Heart Center project on the Rodgers portal. Working with the project management team, a custom folder structure was created for the communication and exchange of information such as RFIs, submittals and closeout documentation.
All participants are able to upload, download, annotate and exchange information when it is needed during the course of the project. All participants are also able to utilize NP mobile for iPads to access, annotate and communicate on documents in the eld. The result of this process is a signicant time and money savings for the project team.
“During this project, we have handled document distribution and exchange for bidding, submittals and RFIs, and soon subs will begin uploading their closeout documentation” said Ryan Wathen Senior Vice President of Rodgers. Wilkerson, Rodgers and subs/vendors are able to upload and share construction information through the collaboration portion of NextPlans. In addition, set-up , training and continued support during this project is being provided by the NextPlans support team.
According to Wathen, “NextPlans is regularly evaluating where their administrative support can be integrated into our document management processes, because of that we are able to use the latest technology without creating more work for Rodgers personnel.”
Signicant time and cost savings have been achieved throughout the course of this project by utilizing web-based communication and exchange. By centralizing all information from start to nish on the project, NextPlans is able to reduce the learning curve for 3rd party participants and ensure everyone is building the project off of the same information. This creates a better overall project for the owner.
“We have been fortunate to have a long relationship with Nash and will be starting a new project soon,” said Wathen. “Being 90% closed out on a project when it starts makes going to the next project a lot easier. NextPlans gives us that.”
