When Rodgers Builders need a secure, online construction performance management system for Novant Health’s $112,000,000 Forsyth Medical Center hospital addition, they turned to NextPlans. The entire project team relied on NextPlans for document management, subcontractor procurement and document distribution.
During the three-year duration of the project, there were over 500 revisions issued. With NextPlans in place, every one of the revisions was captured and appropriately distributed to the necessary project participants. NextPlans document management service insured all information was indexed correctly and that each project partner had the most current documents to avoid unnecessary delays, errors and mistakes.
“With multiple projects, a multitude of drawing revisions, and many special drawing requests, it would have been easy to be overwhelmed the volume of work demanded during this fast paced project,” said David J. Craft, P.E., LEED AP Vice President Construction Operations for Rodgers Builders. “However, NextPlans was up to the task, and kept us, and all our trade partners, well equipped with the information we needed when (or before) we needed it,” he added. By using the centralized NextPlans system, the designers, contractors, and owner were able to easily collaborate, communicate and share information.
The Forsyth Medical Center project was 2010 Carolinas AGC project of the year. The project consisted of three primary components on the campus of Forsyth Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. The North Pavilion included a new 9-level, Women's Center addition adjacent and connected to the existing main hospital complex. The 355,200 square-foot tower involves a cast-in-place concrete structure that houses the new Sara Lee Center for Women's Health including OB/LDR rooms, NICU, PICU and other comprehensive women's services. The new tower addition connects to the existing, adjacent West Tower on several levels and includes approximately 90,000 square feet of West Tower Renovations.
